How to read a Genmega error code
Genmega ATMs (G1900, G2500, G2900, G3500, GT3000, Onyx and Onyx W) show 5-character codes. The first character tells you which part of the ATM has the problem: 2 everyday alerts (cash, cassette, door, paper), F settings (like the surcharge), A receipt printer, C cash dispenser, 9 or M card reader, D connection or the customer’s bank, E and W remote monitoring. Newer Genmega software adds S (security certificates) and GP (GivePay cashless) codes. An X inside a code stands for a sensor or cassette number.
Some dispenser codes (the C codes) mean slightly different things on different Genmega dispensers. If a fix does not work, check the manual for your exact model and software version.
Is it your machine or the customer’s bank?
Many D codes mean the customer’s bank said no, so nothing is wrong with your ATM: D0051 not enough money, D0055 wrong PIN, D0054 expired card, D0061 withdrawal limit reached. If the same bank code keeps showing for different customers, call your processor.
When to call a technician
- The same code comes back within an hour after you cleared it.
- A dispenser (C) code repeats after you cleared jams and cleaned the sensors.
- Grinding, a burning smell, or the dispenser will not run.
- Memory (NVRAM) errors or security certificate (S) codes.
- Anything involving the keypad (EPP) or security keys.
Codes and fixes are based on Genmega’s ATM Application Software Manual (2024, version V05.00.40 and later) and the Genmega G2500 Operator Manual. More on the machines in our Genmega ATM guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do Genmega ATM error codes mean?
An error code tells you which part of the ATM has a problem. The first character points to the part: 2 for everyday alerts like cash and paper, C for the cash dispenser, A for the receipt printer, D for the connection or the customer’s bank, and F for settings.
What does Genmega error F0001 mean?
F0001 means the number of bills was not entered after loading cash, so the ATM will not dispense. Go to the Operator Menu, then the Settlement Menu, then Add Cassette, and enter the number of bills you loaded.
What does Genmega error 20002 mean?
20002 means the ATM is low on cash. Load more cash and check the cash level in the Settlement Menu.
Is a D code a problem with my ATM?
Often not. Many D codes are the customer’s bank declining the transaction, such as insufficient funds (D0051), wrong PIN (D0055) or an expired card (D0054). Others point to the phone line or internet connection, which you can check yourself.
How do I clear a Genmega error code?
Fix the cause first, for example load cash, close the vault door or clear a paper jam. Then reinitialize the ATM by pressing DEV INI on the screen or turning it off and on. If the same code comes back within an hour, call a technician.
Are Genmega and Hyosung error codes the same?
No. Some codes look alike, but they can mean different things. Newer Hyosung ATMs use 7-character codes, while Genmega uses 5. Use the list for your brand: this page for Genmega, or our Hyosung ATM error codes page.
